I visited a few second hand stores this week and found this antique trunk. It was love at first sight and I purchased it straight away.
After a deep cleaning I was able to list all the damages and repairs due to be done and started.

This is a typical antique trunk with a dome top. It has been painted many years ago and probably exposed to weather as the whole exterior wooden side is a bit damaged and the metal fittings are really rusted.
I decided NOT to paint this beautiful blue tone but to clean and protect. I had to fix a few nails, add some of them where missing, cleaning all the fittings with vinegar... A big job but I love it!

It looks beautiful Anne. I love the blue with the wood peeking out from underneath. I'm glad you decided to leave it as is and let the patina and age shine through. I hope you can join us and link up at Sweet Inspiration a party which I am hosting. It runs Friday till Tuesday.
